API Setup Guide
🔐 Secure API Key Management
MuseSecure Pro uses industry-standard encryption to protect your API keys.

Provider Setup Instructions
Anthropic Claude Setup
- Go to console.anthropic.com
- Sign up or log in to your account
- Click “Get API Keys” or navigate to API settings
- Create a new API key:
- Click “Create Key”
- Give it a name (e.g., “MuseSecure Pro”)
- Copy the key immediately (it won’t be shown again)
- In MuseSecure Pro:
- Go to Settings
- Select “Anthropic (Claude)” as provider
- Paste your API key
- Set model to:
claude-3-5-sonnet-20241022 - Click “Save Settings”
OpenAI Setup
- Go to platform.openai.com
- Sign up or log in to your account
- Navigate to API Keys section
- Create a new secret key:
- Click “Create new secret key”
- Name it (e.g., “MuseSecure Pro”)
- Copy the key (shown only once)
- In MuseSecure Pro:
- Go to Settings
- Select “OpenAI” as provider
- Paste your API key
- Set model to:

Choose the right model for your needs:
For Screenwriting (Recommended):
- Claude 3.5 Sonnet: Best dialogue and character analysis
- Claude 3 Opus: Most sophisticated, highest quality
Budget-Conscious:
- Claude 3.5 Sonnet: Best quality-to-price ratio
Context Window Settings
Adjust “Maximum Context Characters” based on your needs:
- 1,000-2,000: Single scenes or dialogue exchanges
- 4,000-8,000: Full scenes with context (recommended)
- 10,000+: Sequences or multiple scenes
⚠️ Note: Larger context = higher costs. Start with 8,000 and adjust based on usage.
🛡️ Zero Data Retention (ZDR)
When enabled, MuseSecure Pro sends special headers to prevent AI providers from using your data for training.
Anthropic ZDR
Uses anthropic-beta: prompt-caching-2024-07-31 header which ensures:
- No data retention beyond session
- No training on your screenplay
- Prompt caching for efficiency
OpenAI ZDR
Contact OpenAI for enterprise ZDR options or use API with data retention opt-out.
🔍 Testing Your Setup
- Complete API setup in Settings
- Upload a test screenplay
- Select a small passage (1-2 paragraphs)
- Click “General Feedback”
- Verify you receive a response
✅ Success! If you received AI feedback, your setup is complete and working correctly.
❓ Troubleshooting
Common Issues
“API Error: Invalid authentication”
- Double-check your API key is correct
- Ensure no extra spaces when pasting
- Verify key is active in provider console
“Rate limit exceeded”
- You’ve hit your provider’s rate limit
- Wait a few minutes and try again
- Consider upgrading your API plan
“Context too long”
- Your selected text exceeds model limits
- Select a smaller passage
- Reduce “Max Context Characters” in Settings
